Two years away from the sport is usually the end of a CrossFit career. For Lucy Campbell, it was just the beginning of something rare.

After spending two seasons rehabbing a wrist injury, Campbell returned to the competition floor in 2025 and immediately reestablished herself among the world’s best. Across eight competitions, she finished inside the top five every time, including wins at Wodapalooza and Wodland Fest.

But Campbell’s 2025 season goes well beyond consistent finishes.

Triple Crown

Wodapalooza, the CrossFit Games, and the Rogue Invitational make up the sport’s unofficial Triple Crown. In 2025, Campbell finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively.

With podium finishes at all three events, Campbell became just the second woman to ever accomplish the feat in a single calendar year.

  • Tia-Clair Toomey was the first athlete and only other woman to do so, winning all three competitions in both 2019 and 2020.

Two-Year Gap

Campbell secured her return to the CrossFit Games with a dominant win at Wodland Fest. Two years removed from her rookie season, she went on to finish as the second Fittest Woman on Earth.

That result made Campbell the first athlete in Games history to finish second after a 2+ year absence. Only two other athletes have even podiumed after missing multiple Games, including Kyle Kasperbauer in 2012 and Ricky Garard in 2022.

In fact, just nine athletes in CrossFit Games history have finished inside the top 10 after an extended absence.

Event Wins

At the CrossFit Games in Albany, Campbell earned two event wins—matching the total from her rookie year. That alone is notable, as only nine women in Games history have recorded more than four career event wins.

Even more impressive, Campbell became the first woman to win multiple events in both her rookie and sophomore appearances at the CrossFit Games.

  • Only 24 athletes overall have won a single event in both of their first two CrossFit Games appearances.

One Last Rep

Comebacks are common in CrossFit. Seasons like Lucy Campbell’s are not.

After two years away, she didn’t just return—she joined a list that includes only the greatest athletes the sport has ever seen.
