With just three weeks to go until the 2024 CrossFit Open, we put together a quick 10 fun facts on the CrossFit Open.
- There has only been one tie for first in the history of the CrossFit Open. In 2011 Annie Thorisdottir and Kristan Clever tied with 21 points.
- Jamie Simmonds is the only athlete to win the CrossFit Open, and not enter the individual competition. In 2016 she won the Open, then went team with CrossFit Yas.
- Only 3 Open champions have never stood on the CrossFit Games podium, Dan Bailey (2011 Open Winner), Cassidy Lance-Mcwherter (2018) and Saxon Panchik (2022).
- Between 2011 and 2022, Rich Froning never finished worse than 13th in the CrossFit Open.
- No man has won the CrossFit Open from outside of North America.
- Mallory O’Brien won the 2022 CrossFit Open with 4 points. She had 2 first place finishes and a second.
- The worst finish in the CrossFit Open by the eventual CrossFit Games champion was 185th by Laura Horváth. The worst finish in the CrossFit Open by an athlete who would stand on the CrossFit Games podium the same year was 213th by Lindsey Valenzuela in 2013.
- The CrossFIt Open has had 6 workouts in 3 years, 5 workouts 7 times, 4 workouts in 2 years and 3 workouts just once.
- In the 2 years that Katrin Davidsdottir won the CrossFit Games(2015 and 2016), she finished 14th in the CrossFit Open both years.
- The women’s CrossFit Open champion has had a better Open score than the men’s winner in 10 out of 13 years.
