The second team from CrossFit Invictus has been announced recently, with Invictus Unconquerable unveiled. Unconquerable will consist of athletes, Emilty Rethwill, Jessi Smith, Phillip Muscarella and Roldan Golbaum. Â
The Uncoquerable team brings together the 2 women from the 2023 Invictus Unconquerable team that finished 28th at the CrossFit Games, with two men who competed as individuals at the 2023 North America West Semifinal.
Roldan Goldbaum
Roldan Goldbaum made a name for himself in the 2023 season after a 5th place finish in the 2023 CrossFit Open, and followed it up with an 18th place finish in North America West Quarterfinals. Unfortunately Goldbaum was forced to withdraw after test 5 in Semi-finals, where he earned a 16th place in Test 2 and an 11th in Semifinals Linda. Â
Roldan Goldbaum’s first semifinals appearance came in 2022 when he finished 22nd at the Syndicate Crown.
This past offseason Roldan Goldbaum won The Greatest Fit Fest, which earned him a spot in the Wodapalooza LATAM Cup, where he finished on the podium with a 3rd place finish.
Goldbaum is going into his age 24 season, and being part of the Invictus environment could be enough to take him to an individual appearance at the CrossFit Games in future years.
Phillip Muscarella
Phillip Muscarella is a 3 time individual Semifinals athlete that will be switching gears and entering the team competition in 2024. In 2023 he finished 19th at the North America West Semifinal, in 2022 he finished 13th at the Mid-Atlantic CrossFit Challenge, and had a 24th at the 2021 Granite Games.
Also in 2023 he had a 7th place at the NorCal Classic, and a 15th in the individual competition at Wodapalooza. Â
Phillip Muscarella is no stranger to the team competition. He has competed in a team in the past twice at Wodapalooza. In 2023 Muscarella was part of the Three Wizards team that finish 9th and in 2022 as part of Samsarellamann that finished 4th.
Emily Rethwill
2024 will be Emily Rethwill’s third year as a member of CrossFit Invictus Unconquerable. Last year the team made it to the CrossFit Games and finished 28th. In 2022 the Unconquerable team finished 8th at the Granite Games Semifinals.
In 2023, Emily Rethwill entered the Individual Quarterfinals, and had an impressive 24th place finish. She was also a member of the Invictus Chicks team that finished 13th at Wodapalooza.
Emily Rethwill entered the individual competition at Wodapalooza this year, and finished 35th. Her best event finish at Wodapalooza was a 12th place in Wipe Out.
Jessi Smith
Jessi Smith was also a member of the 2023 CrossFit Invictus Unconquerable team. Also similar to Rethwill, Smith competed in Individual Quarterfinals, and finished 30th in the North America West region, which easily would have qualified her for Semifinals as an Individual.
From a team perspective, Jessi Smith has a pair of 9th place finished at Wodapalooza. In 2023, she was a member of 9th place CrossFit Invictus and in 2022 she was a member of 9th place Team Fleo Feugo.
In individual competitions, Jessi Smith qualified for Semifinals twice. In 2022, Smith finished 11th at the Granite Games, and in 2021 she was 18th at the Granite Games.
The first team announced by CrossFit Invictus in the 2024 season was CrossFit Invictus Unbroken.
